Paul Gilbert Classical Guitar

Paul Gilbert playing classical guitar. This video is Paul’s best shot at Flamenco guitar. The song name is “Flamingo”. He named it as a joke for his supposed “inability” to play real Flamenco. Everyone knows Mr. Gilbert can play anything..

Classical Guitar lesson – Barre Technique This lesson demonstrates the common problems when using barre chords. I hope it helps those may be struggling with the technique. You can get a PDF of “3 Exercises for Barre Technique” here – classicalguitarlessons.blogspot.com More videos will be added soon. Please subscribe to my channel to be notified of new videos. Main points to remember when executing barres – 1. keep finger straight and right before the fretwire 2. make sure finger is not “curled” in the middle – this causes buzzing on the inner strings 3. keep elbow behind the barre and use the weight of the arm to press (not just the thumb and fingers) Best Wishes, Kevin Gallagher website – www.guitar69.com writings – http

im 49 and ive been playing classical guitar for about 32 years now
that is really great classical guitar but as paul says thats not quite up to “pro” standard
i mean the shreddings insane but once your in practise its easier to shred on a classical anyway

  22. shadowknight132 says:

I doubt he plays a lot of classical guitar because he likes rock more. Shawn lane talks about that in one of his videos.

  23. charleseladas says:

his right hand doesnt have a good technique on that video. I guess its because he doesnt really play classical guitar. The song is beast tho

  24. lanc3fight4freedom says:

I have to say something, if this guy can shred on a classical, and get all the notes accurately, i’d like to say he’s on the same level as malmsteen, thought malmsteen is faster.

  25. 20rough says:

look at how he plucked the strings, it created a nice tunes on classical guitar…he also got a very hard picking too on the electric one

  26. seasharpdeflat says:

    Kevin,

I’ve been working on Lagrima and using your barre cord technique it is much cleaner and I can transition to and from the barre cords much better.

    Thanks

  42. overainbows says:

  43. DrEnzyme says:

Thank you so much Kevin. My hand gets really sore from barring, hopefully this will help somewhat.

  44. Raiyne123 says:

Wow, the arm positioning really makes things much easier on the fingers. Thank you, Kevin, for the great video. :)

  45. Alexlowe88 says:

I stopped for two or three days before I picked up the guitar again. After that, it became mush easier. You need to build up the strength of the fingers gradually, So, stay in there. Work on the barre one fret every day or every two days.

  46. Alexlowe88 says:

    @DJPeteJames
Hi, what kind of strings are on your guitar, I mean steel or nylon? Steel strings will require greater force than nylon strings. My very first guitar was steel strings and the guitar was really cheap, around 10 dollars. But then that was 35 years ago. During the first two days, the finger really really hurt, especially the finger tips. I soldiered on, practising everyday for 1 to 2 hours. After one week, the finger tips lost most senses.

  47. abhish1984 says:

omg….u r the man….i have been hoping someone addressed this issue…wow….u hit the nail right on head…..Thank you so very much…I still think I need a lot of practice :)

  48. stevi1998 says:

Thanks Kevin very instructive .. now my barre is ok up to the 7th fret above that my arm comes into my side again to get up the neck so i cannot use the technique you advise, any suggestions?

  49. darioidan says:

hey man, i not realy sure how to do the last exercise can someone help?

  50. pedrolibres says:

you need to play for about 2-3 hours a days for about 2-3 weeks and then your problem will be solved super genius. no instrument is easy or comfortable. by the way your finger tips will burn for about 2 weeks(like a football coach says.. play through the pain)
